Service Activities
Analysis of feeds and fertilizers is conducted on behalf of the CT Department of Agriculture to confirm label guarantees. Analysis of food and animal samples for contamination by heavy metals is conducted for a variety of agencies. Lead content of toys and solders is determined in support of activities in the CT Department of Consumer Protection.

Research Activities
The research in my laboratory is primarily focused on heavy metals and arsenic in foods and in the environment. I am currently investigating the sources of lead in maple syrup, and will shortly begin to study the amounts of heavy metals in fish caught in urban fishing holes, such as the Quinnipiac River in New Haven. I am also actively researching the leaching of Cu, Cr, and As from CCA pressure treated wood in field studies on decks and other products made from this material.
